Tokyo – August 4, 2021 – Aizawa Asset Management Co., Ltd. (Aizawa) announces its participation in Series C investment round of ispace, inc., as one of seven investors, including Incubate Fund as the lead investor, through Ariake Secondary Fund II LP (ASF-II).
ispace is a lunar exploration company with over 150 staff and offices in Japan, Europe and the United States. The company has raised a cumulative total investment of approximately $195.5 million (USD). The funds will be used to build small commercial lunar landers, aiming to provide high-frequency, low-cost delivery service to the Moon. Aspiring to be a gateway for private sector companies to bring their business to the Moon, ispace has also launched a lunar data business concept to support companies with lunar market entry.
This is a co-investment with Incubate Fund, one of Japan’s leading venture capital funds, as lead investor. Aizawa’s participation through ASF-II is part of an effort to provide co-investment opportunities to Japan capital markets, along with stimulating transaction opportunities and revitalizing secondary markets in Japan for low-liquidity assets.
Shinichiro Shiraki, CEO of Aizawa comments:
“We are pleased to provide support in the form of capital participation to ispace, inc., a leading Japanese figure in the global space business. We are confident that our participation from ASF-II, coupled with our co-investment with Incubate Fund will become a major milestone for our co-investment strategy.”
We look forward to providing more updates on our co-investment activities.
